Availability Reporting - possible feature request or advice

Hello,

I'm attempting to use Availability Reporting to demonstrate our SLA / OLA requirements to business but have run into a small snag: Our current environment lumps production and non-production hosts into the same servicegroup - so when I run an availability report on our SQL cluster for example the results are a bit skewed because staging / testing servers are naturally "less cared for" than the production boxes. Is there a way that I can flag production boxes so that only these hosts are included in reporting instead of everything in the service or host group?

The only option I see to do this currently is to make additional groups for production only hosts, but this would make an absolute mess out of our current configuration. The drop-down fields are so narrow that if we added more characters to the description you would not be able to see this extra information for one...the other problem would be the sheer number of required service groups to get this task done would basically create a neverending scrolling list when adding new hosts / services. We're talking a HUGE installation here...

Thanks for any input,
Brian

I can't think of any other solution than to create additional groups. Post a feature request on our bug tracker here - maybe our developers will be able to extend Nagios XI functionality by adding this feature, depending on whether there is enough interest from other users.

Unfortunately, no, we do not offer reporting with the selective limitation of hosts/services. You must use one of the current methods for grouping. It would appear that your current configuration does not delineate between testing and production, so you will at minimum need to create a handful of host groups and service groups to split up the objects for reporting purposes.
