How to disabled Email notification in NagiosXI for time being.
The reason for, we have scheduled downtime activity in weekend & I want to suppressed the alert for all servers.
Presently monitoring more than 300 servers, not possible if we go with schedule downtime feature.

So what I found is, in Notification Preferences, if I untick Enable Notifications tab. Is that suffice ?

or

Can I scheduled downtime on Hostgroup at one go ? If yes, How do I do that ?

Hi lafargeuser,
Yes, diasabling notifications will stop any notifications from being sent. They will not build up in any queue as such, so when you re-enabled notifications you will not get swamped with a bunch of emails.

I always like to disable notificiations via the Tactical Overview page (down the bottom, click the tick). The reason why I like doing this is when I then return to the Tactical Overview page, the big X under Notifications makes it very clear that they are disabled. It is also a good area to see the overall health before starting a maintenance window.

Also, check the Tactical Overview page BEFORE re-enabling notifications, make sure all of your hosts and services are OK. If you re-enable notifications when there is a couple of hundred services in a critical state, you will start to receive alerts for those (based on the alert settings for each service).

Hope your scheduled downtime goes as planned :)
