Renaming switches without loosing performance data

Hi,
I would like to rename a few network switches. However I noticed that the process is a little confusing. If I just rename the host, the services are still listed under the old name. And if I rename the service, I loose the performance data. Is there a proper way to do it?

I think the renaming tool takes care or the performance data as well. Not 100% sure and not 100% sure if you need enterprise to have the renaming tool.

Thanks for your reply. Where can I find the Bulk Renaming tool? I can't find any info about it except for the changelog.

If you have Nagios XI 2012 Enterprise edition it is located in CCM > Tools. If you do not have enterprise edition you can start a free 60 day trial that will not revert your changes once it ends. You can do so through Admin > License Information.

Thanks, I found it. But there's a problem: it doesn't change config name for the services. So if I rename "SW_OLD_NAME" to "SW_NEW_NAME", the config name for the services will still be "SW_OLD_NAME". Is there a way to change config name too, without loosing performance data?

Unfortunately, no. This would be a good feature request - tracker.nagios.com
You could rename the config name (by hand), but then you will have to rename rdds/directories to preserve the perf data.
