PNP4Nagios started replacing blanks in hostnames, with + ?

Good afternoon, I hope somebody can help...
It appears that a few days ago, all of a sudden, PNP4Nagios started replacing spaces in Nagios hostnames with a '+' rather than '_'. So, in the perfdata folder, all hosts that contained a space now have two folders, one with + and one with _ substitutes.
It appears that Nagios however, when you click on the PNP link, looks for the data with '_' in the hostname.
Hard to explain, I hope I have! I have no idea how/what/why this has occured, but would be grateful for any help. i don't really want to go through and rename all hostnames to not use spaces, as this would lose all the previous PNP4N data
Please help!
Regards,
Malcolm
