Not receiving Host notifications

No one is receiving host notifications from Nagios anymore, Service Notifications are working fine. host notifications were working fine up until July 15th. I did not change anything on the config for Nagios on that day, but host notifications suddenly stopped working for some reason. We have a consultant that helps with our Nagios implementation and he could not find anything that would cause the issue when he looked. We have also rebooted the server to no effect. Just looking for ideas on what may have caused this.

Can you do the following and let us know what the outcome is?:

Home > Host Detail > Click on a Host which normally sends notifications to you > Click the Advanced Tab > Send Custom Notification > Check "Forced" and "Broadcast" and add a comment, then click Commit. Now watch your inbox and let us know if you receive a notification on any of the contacts assigned to this host.

Also, once you commit this please send us a screen shot of:

Home > Notifications > "Try to crop out the notification that was sent for this host so we can see the entire horizontal line of information. Block out any sensitive information.

Blacked out UIDs with last names in them.

Did you receive a notification on any of the contacts assigned to this host?

Nope. Sorry, meant to add that in the other reply. I tried sending a service notification from this same host and received that fine.

If you navigate to Configure > CCM > Contacts > "Select any of the contacts" click the diskette icon next to the contacts name on the table list and send us the output on the page it directs you to. You can send this in a PM to me as it will include some personal information "emails and last names, etc." In the PM also let me know what the names of the contacts in question are.

Upon reviewing your configuration, you have no host or service notification commands for a great number of your contacts, please review this document and make sure you define the correct notification handlers for each contact which receives notifications:

Ok, so if I'm understanding this document correctly, and I want to add Notification commands to say, my user ID (which is a monitoring contact as well as a user ID), I would need to add xi_host_notification_handler to the "manage host notification commands" window, correct? I did this and still do not receive host notifications.

If you are using users for notifications who also have contacts, add the xi_host_notification_handler, and xi_service_notification_handler to the contact, if you are editing a contact who is only a contact and does not have a user assigned to it, use the normal notify-host and notify-service handlers. Be sure to click save at the bottom, and apply configuration. Now, move to one of your hosts details page's and click the advanced tab, send a custom notification and verify that it was triggered via the Home > Notification page.

Yep, that's exactly what I did. I modified my own contact settings. I am a user that is associated with this contact, so I added xi_host_notification_handler and xi_service_notification_handler, saved, applied, and then sent test notification. Checking the notifications page shows it sent, but I did not receive it.
