Exclude hostgroups from service check.

Ok, so here is a question that is boggling my mind and I expect abrist to reply with his normal bad news.

I have a service created and assigned to:
Hostgroup1
Hostgroup2
Hostgroup3
Hostgroup4
Hostgroup5

However, there are hosts spread throughout all 5 hostgroups that I want to exclude from the service. They are all members of hostgroup6. Is there a way to exclude those hosts and have them part of the other hostsgroups that are included?

I have yet to crush any hopes and dreams this week, so I have to start somewhere:
The "hostgroup" directive does not support negation, otherwise this would be a simple solution. Are these geographic or purpose-based hostgroups (you may have to break things down a bit more . . .)? The following email exchange is worth looking at:

I guess I will create more hostgroups...feel free to lock this up
