I read something about being able to use the Nagios XI Enterprise license for a test environment. Is it the same key I need to use?

Well, you should be able to use your XI licenses for three installations, we generally recommend one for production, one for test, and one for backup. So yes, you can do this! :)

Hello,

Are we allowed to use one of the three licenses for a second production server?

So for example we could split the server / storage related hosts from the network related hosts?

Or is the second and third use of the same license only allowed for backup or test purposes?

Grtz

No, splitting production systems, is not included in the license. With a single license, you have 3 options that it can be used for, only one of which can be production.
1) production system, sends out notifications, does live checks
2) backup system, can do live checks and\or receive outgoing checks from the production systems, cannot send any form of notification unless production is down. (that last part is the biggest point)
3) test system. may do live live checks, be used for simulating load or other changes to your network, can be used to test notifications but not set as a primary function of the device.

Hope thats a little more clear! :D

Thanks. I'm considering seting up a test server and just wanted to know if this was an option. And as we are government, got to be in order license-wise. Thread can be closed.
