View configuration snapshots not up to date

Hi,
When having an error while applying configuration, I go to "View configuration snapshots" but the list of available snapshots ends to march 2013.

Can you run the write config tool and let us know what it says? That should help you find the problem:

Configure > CCM > Tools > Write Config Tool.

Regarding your snapshots it is possible they have not been taken, or your time is off showing the last one as a few months ago.

write config to files = write
verify configuration = verify
restart nagios = restart

So you had no configuration errors then, when you apply configuration what happens?

Please find a screen capture attached (in that case, no errors).
But no snapshot taken when errors occured.

It looks like a user with the id of 500 must have been removed some point after XI was installed, this happens to be the nagios user that is created upon install.. Do you use LDAP or any other domain authentication on the linux system itself, not the XI interface? I am guessing this is going to cause many issues further down the line as well since other directories and files will have been altered too. To start getting your snapshots working, you can run:

chown -R nagios.nagios /usr/local/nagiosxi/nom
Then let's look for other issues that may be present, this may end up with a lot of results,attach the txt documents.

grep 'nag' /etc/passwd
ll -R /usr/local/nagios/ | grep 500 > /tmp/nagios-user-issue.txt
ll -R /usr/local/nagiosxi/ | grep 500 > /tmp/nagiosxi-user-issue.txt

Here's the result of the commands you proposed me to launched.

[root@nagiosxi services]# grep 'nag' /etc/passwd
nagios:x:20739:500::/home/nagios:/bin/bash

What changed in your local system accounts? The nagios user is ID 20739 and not 500 as all of the files indicate. That is why instead of a user they show 500. You should be able to modify /etc/passwd to look like:

nagios:x:500:100::/home/nagios:/bin/bash
As it normally should, we will then have to reapply the changes to the snapshot directory from before.
