I read somewhere you can enable DNS lookups in Network Analyzer so it will show FQDNs on the flow diagrams but under the "Configure" menu there is only User Management and Update Licencing. Where is the DNS configuration option hidden? Also there are no global retention settings or general frontend settings here yet the text on the Configure page says there is??? I am using the trial version 2014R1.0RC1.
Configure Network Analyzer
Set the global retention settings, manage users, and update the general frontend settings for your Network Analyzer install. You can also update your license and check the license information.

I know this is possible, let me check with our developers, as I don't believe anyone has done it yet.

Thanks Spenser - happy to be the Guinea pig - this is just a test environment (internal network).

I forwarded this thread out to the NNA devs.

What are you looking to add? Do you want it to translate the IPs in the query results to hostnames or are you looking for DNS lookups in the actual queries you are making?

Thanks Nicholas

I wanted the flow graphs to show FQDN not IPs if possbile. (so I dont have to go look them up to see where the flows are going). Mainly for external links but internal would be helpful too.

Currently you can visit a report for your sources and then mouse over the IP's, this will show the FQDN. However, displaying the actual FQDNs in queries is something decently high on the To-Do list and should be implemented a little on down the pipe, so stay tuned!

We have Nagios Network Analyzer 2014R1.3 and I'm not seeing where this is configured. A mouse-over on the pie charts (expanded or in its default state) only reveals the IP addresses. Any pending updates? Thanks.

I don't think you can display the FQDNs on the pic chart in the Nagios NA at the moment. I will talk to nscott, just to be 100% sure. Meanwhile, you can post a feature request on our bug tracker:

Has there been any development on this issue at all? We don't know the hundreds of IPs that our customers use to connect to our VoIP services by sight, and it's hard to separate out the obvious hackers from the legitimate customers just by IP. FQDN resolution (especially if it were a checkbox to turn on and off as needed) would really be great.
