NSclient provides a way to monitor windows event logs, you can also send snmptraps for certain eventlogs. What specifically are you looking to monitor?

I'd also just like to throw it out there that WMI monitoring supports it as well. I'm adding hundreds, maybe thousands of servers to my XI, and it works quite nicely. Agentless is a huge plus. We also create a powershell script that applies all settings so the user needed can be locked down as much as possible...I need to share that script :)

You should share that script, it would be greatly appreciated! Also, I completely agree, wmi is a fantastic way to monitor things, and personally aside from traps the only way I monitor windows machines unless absolutely necessary.

Say, BanditBBS, that script could be that super powered item that "can't fall into the wrong hands" that we need to save the world! ..or our jobs... Heh heh "get the script, save the world" (remember heroes tv show).

I need to monitor specific Services and be alerted via Nagios if the service goes down or is in a stuck state. I have installed nagevlog 1.9.2 on Windows 7 but this version is not working with Windows 8 R2.

If you want to monitor the status of a service, why are you trying to monitor event log? Why not just monitor the service's state directly?

What method are you using to monitor the windows secrver, NSClient?

My fault. Sorry for the Confusion. I installed NSClient successfully, what I need from Nagios eventlog viewer is alerts on Applications, Security and System errors.

Found this from the author of NSClient, new eventlog monitoring for NSClient 0.4.0 and newer.
