We confirm the same behavior. Try this instead:
% more /etc/libmap.conf
[/usr/local/bin/nagios]
libpthread.so.2
libthr.so.2
libpthread.so libthr.so
There needs to be a FreeBSD tinderbox builder to prevent these problems
