Upgrade from 2009R1.1E to 2009R1.3G

Hi,
i have Nagios XI v.2009R1.1E running in VMWare ESX 3.5, and i want to upgrade to the lateste version of Nagios.
I cannot resize the disk of this VM because it doesn't allow it, but since the new image with the latest version of Nagios(2009R1.3G) does allow it, i would like to transfer all settings and configurations to the new image and delete the old one.
So, this are my questions:
1) It is enough to use the Nagios tools to "Write Config Files" and "Import Config Files", to transfer all the settings and configurations?
2) how do i transfer the serial? do i need to request a new one?
3) i would like to keep the history (to be able to see the graphs), but it isn't critical. For this i need to backup and restore the BD, right? How do i do this?
4) is there anything else i need to cover?
Best regards,
