Proxy support for NSCA

Greetings all,
I am trying to setup distributed Nagios using NSCA. In some locations, firewalls prevent direct connection from the remote server to the central server - security policy requires that a proxy server be used.
Is there any way to get NSCA to use a proxy, or is there an alternative addon that does the same as NSCA but with proxy support?
Failing that, is there avenue to suggest/request addon development?
