Thanks Mark

Was more hoping that it could be built into a future version of nagios.

If it all comes from one development team there is likely to be less
problems

Doesn't DNX do some of this? Actually, it seems more like the dream
scenario of DNX + Merlin.

I would like to request a feature that would do distributed clustering
without the use of passive checks.

With the following considerations

Remote Servers:-

Check results are passed to a database

Web interface and notification access the database

Remote server nagios.cfg

remote_server_name ;used by the central server to display
where the data has come from e.g. London_datacenter

central_server_address ;IP address of the central server

More IP's could be added to the central_server_address.

For example if a company had several offices in one country and spanned
several countries. The following would be available with the web interface

Each office could see its own host service checks

Country regional office could see the checks from all the offices in that
country

Global headquarters could see the checks from all countries

Central Server:-

Has a database for the results of its own checks plus the remote_server
databases are also upload into it

Web interface / notifications show checks from central and remote servers.

Web interface / notification to include the remote_server_name in the
host/service check displays

Central server nagios.cfg

Remote_server_address ;IP address of remote servers, a security
feature that would allow the central nagios to ignore any data sent to it
from servers not in the list
