I am running the SNMP Monitoring Wizard and I am wondering if there is documentation on how to import MIB modules. The wizard provides a few default examples (e.g., RFC1213-MIB) but there is no option to select other MIBs or any documentation that lists the MIBs the tool supports. The only thing available is a text field to enter the MIB name. What MIBs can I enter in this field? How does it handle vendor specific MIBs? What about the Match Type field, there are only two options Numeric and String, what about the other syntax constructs? In general, where is the documentation on how to use the SNMP manager? I would like to see if this tool meets my needs before I pay for it and SNMP monitoring is critical.

You should be able to insert MIBs into the database just by placing the text file(the name must be uniq but is otherwise free form) into /usr/share/snmp/mibs.

snmptranslate and be used to test the loaded mibs. I've found using MIB names rather then numbers produces some spectacular output.

There is some magic with regard to translating MIB names into numbers, play with snmptranslate until you get the hang of it.
