[Nagios-devel] Features / Target Audience

Post by Guest »

Features:

* In the previous incarnation of Nagios there was the feature to Disable
Notifications on a service, and then be able to ReEnable it in "x" minutes.
What happened to this "delay of action" ??

* When scheduling downtime, it's absolute. Can it have a periodicity? For
instance, can I say that Every Monday at 3am a Service will have downtime?
Even if I have to configure it for each service that'd be helpful.

* Currently you can only view the config data by Host or Service. It would be
nice to be able to look at a Host or Service state screen and click on
something to display the actual config for that specific Service or Host on
it's own...even if only a config file dump, or some sort of text/plain output.
Going though the View Config is cumbersome when you have thousands of Services.

Thanks, I know persistent things like this are tough, but figured I'd ask! :)

Target Audience:

Also, since I'm here, what is the target audience for Nagios? I see so much
debate of performance of features that affect people with 1000+ services, with
rebutals by people that obviously must only have a handful of monitoring since
they don't seem to understand the need for certain features. If Nagios is
intended for only 100 of less points of monitoring, please state so. If it's
intended for 1000+ points of monitoring (such as myself), then I would tend to
agree with many of the folks needed better logging, config, db backend, etc.

Thanks for your time,
