I'm not logging this as the bug this tries to resolve is already logged,
I wanted comments on the method this diff uses to resolve the issue. if
the method is acceptable, I'll test with more timeperiods, I don't want
to test this only to find that developers aren't happy with how this
diff solves the issue, and so it ends up being a waste.
Ethan mentioned that he will be looking into how this should be fixed, I
think I'm looking more for a comment from him on this.

this one is a one line change, can be easily evaluated without needing
testing, I don't see why this needs a tracker issue.
