Hello all,

ERROR: Dell OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA) is not installed.
but omsa is installed on remote machine.
When I execute on shell:
./check_openmanage -H 172.x.x.x
Controller 0 [PERC H700 Integrated]: Firmware '12.3.0-0032' is out of date
Cache Battery 0 in controller 0 is Charging (Ready) [probably harmless]
What Im doing wrong?
Is there somewhere a howto? Was not able to find some.
Can somene help?

There isn't a howto for that at this point, as we don't have much experience with that particular product. However, there are a couple of generic things I can suggest you check.
- Is the path the omsa what is being expected?
- Are the permissions allowing it to be executed by the nagios user, not just root?
- If there's a password supplied, is it quoted/escaped?
Another user on this forum also put together a wizard that you might find interesting - you can find it
on the Exchange.

Hi vmt,
Where exactly are you getting that error? What are the steps you've taken to get this far?
I suggest trying the Dell Wizard that Tony pointed you to, it should allow you to monitor Dell servers almost immediately (I'm the author). I updated last week so it does have current server models. If your model isn't listed then let me know and we can add it.

Hello all,
The omsa was installed the standard way on win 2008rc2.
Maybe I did something wrong installing the plugin under nagios xi. I upload the plugin and I did a configure under command. Doing the check now results in the error I posted.
Permission after uploding the plugin is apache:apache. Changing to root:root didnt solve the problem.
@box293: can you tell me the correct way to install and use the wizard under nagiosxi?
Was not able to find any instructions.

Hello all,
I checked again and it seems I have done something wrong installing the plugin cause when I do a check from nagiosxi I dont see the traffic on firewall which is routing the traffic to remote machine via vpn. Im using latest centos and snmp is installed. Ping to remote machine is okay. Firewall on remote machine is disabled.
Can someone help?

Just some basic networking troubleshooting steps.
Can you ping the Dell server from the Nagios XI host and vice versa?

yes, pinging around, no problem.

notice, the win2008 machine is a remote machine connectet via vpn. There is nagiosxi-> firewall-> win 2008rc.
When I execute ./check_openmanage -H 172.x.x.x -C public I see the snmp traffic on firewall.
When I do an immidate check on nagiosxi webconsole there is no traffic. It seems that the plugin is not really executed by nagiosxi.
Where can I look? Did I something wrong?

Can you send us a screenshot of your service configuration in the Core Config Manager (minus private data)? Also, what error code or status are you getting from XI from that check?
A lot of times the problem in XI vs the command-line is how the command arguments are broken up and/or quoted.
