[Nagios-devel] Nagios 2.0 Host Notifications
Posted: Wed Dec 04, 2002 5:44 pm
As I proceed on the coding of 2.0, I am planning on nuking hostgroup
escalation definitions from CVS. This is happening because hostgroup
escalations can be emulated with host escalation definitions that use
a hostgroup_name directive.
My other plan (which I offer up for discussion) is to move the
contact_groups directive out of hostgroup definitions and into host
definitions. With HG escalations going away, leaving default
notification contacts HG definitions seems a bit odd. Also, defining
contact groups in hostgroups has been carried along since the
beginning days of NetSaint, as I got the idea by looking at how other
monitoring apps worked (I believe it was mon for this idea). I think
its time to clean things up a bit.
Anyway, I think moving the contact_groups directive off to host
definitions will make things a little clearer when working with host
escalations.
Thoughts on this? I'll be making this change if I don't hear any
"good" reasons why things should stay as they are.
