Nagios XI with NC_NET

Hi all,

I am currently running Nagios XI trial version.

We currently have Nagios Core implemented with the NC_Net agent on our servers. We would like to use the existing NC_NET agent rather than nsclient++ with Nagios XI.

We have changed the port number in the config file of NC_Net.
However, in Nagios XI, our services we are monitoring are now reporting "NSClient - ERROR: Wrong password"

Any ideas on how I should proceed, or what I can change?

Thanks!

NC_NET is one of the addons we have on our list to evaluate for integration purposes. I've read the NC_NET documentation before (briefly) and I know it has some NSClient++ compatability built into it, but I'm not sure if it uses a different authentication method.

Can you try running a check command manually from a shell prompt on the Nagios XI server to see if you can communicate with the NC_NET agent?

If you manage to get this running, let us know what you did. We could then escalate our documentation of how to make NC_NET work with Nagios XI and either modify the existing Windows wizard, or build a new one specifically for NC_NET.

Looks like removing "-s" from command.cfg in NagiosXI allowed NC_NET to communicate to the server.

Also, changing the -s argument to "None" works too.

However, changing the password in both the NC_NET startup.cfg file and Nagios XI .cfg file to something like "Rock" will not work.

Any ideas?

I did find this on the NC_Net forums and may help:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/nc-net/ ... ic/3779228

If not, I will set up a test bed here and run it through its paces and see if I can duplicate and correct the issue. Please report back when you can :-)
