Strange *Ghost* hosts appearing

Here's what our system is:
32 Bit VMware install. CentOs image (Centos 5.5).
We have a problem where several hosts keep coming back even though there's no trace of them in the /usr/local/nagios/etc/services or hosts directories. Also, there's no trace of them in core configuration manager. We had deleted them several days ago. How do I clean up these rogue processes?

Looks like this had something to do with the upgrade to the latest version of XI (forgot to mention that in my last post). What I did to clean it up is stop all the services including the DB, postgres and httpd and killed all the Nagios processes. Then I started them all back up again. Everything looks great now and the ghost processes haven't come back yet.

Okay, good to know that this can occur with the upgrade and thank you for sharing the resolution! If you see them come back contact us so we can dig into it

Oddly enough a complete restart of the Nagios system also solves the strange "orphaned" error that I've seen happen before as well. Thanks, go ahead and mark this one as fixed for us. It hasn't come back.

Sounds like you may have spawned a 2nd instance of Nagios during the upgrade.

Yeah, that seems to have been the case. Stopping all Nagios processes and starting them up again fixed it.
