Dear Sir,

I am writing to thank you for your reply and say,

The 'SLATimePeriod' is an arbitrary time period declared to be the same
as the agreement or contract made between those responsible for the
services and hosts, and those who use them. In general, the timeperiods
could be completely independent (and probably will given the sort of
communication - don't talk to him/her, they don't have anything useful
to say - style around here) even if this is nonsense from a Nag point of
view.

In many ISP cases, SLATimePeriod may be '7x24' for all services; for
other businesses the SLATimePeriod may only be 'WorkHours'.

I agree.

The reporting stuff, a constant focus of those I work for, is pretty
much independent of the monitoring core, since it appears to only
require filtering events according to whether or not they belong in the
SLA.

Perhaps SLA processing could _only_ be introduced into the reporting/UI
components - without a change in the core - with some new parameters to
avail.cgi.

On a side note, it might be useful to hack avail.c to allow input from
stdin for those wanting to do their own SLA reporting on the cheap (this
is quite feasable).

Yours sincerely.
