Re: [Nagios-devel] Nagios User Interface Status

Hi All,
Regarding to the user interface, I am working on rewriting every cgi in
order to allow the use of JSON flow export. (see
http://www.yannj.fr/nagios2json)
I am also writing a front end interface to aggregate data from several
nagios server and allow a single point of view. The first milestone will =
be
to reproduce the Nagios interface and making possible the aggregation of
data.
Any help on the project will appreciated

They aren't really rumors, as Ethan confirmed it personally at the
Nordic Nagios Meet in June this year.

That depends. I doubt Ethan is very interested in seeing new =
functionality
in the CGI's, since that would make it harder to get the new GUI =
accepted
(as it'll need all the current functionality along with something =
extra).
Pure bugfixes and very minor stuff is probably ok though, but don't sit
down and spend several weeks on it.

As for licensing, I'm not sure even Ethan knows. I've talked to him
about it but nothing was decided when I did so (or he didn't want to =
tell
me). What I heard back then was that he'd like to make it a =
dual-licensed
thing, making it free (as in speach) for all but gratis (free bear) only
for non-corporate users (home hackers, universities etc, etc).
As for release date, I'm guessing he's polishing it up right now and
waiting to release it until the Netways Nagios conference in September
this year. That's just a guess though, but it's what I'd do if I was =
him.
