Multi Site Design

Hello.
I would like to know the best way to accomplish this setup.
We have 4 major sites with some latency in-between. I would like to have a Master server preferably controlling the configuration of the all hosts, but then have a local nagiosXI server running the checks and gathering the performance data.
Is this possible? Is it better to go with 4seperate installs and use Fusion to link the dashboards globally?
Thank you.

There's a lot of flexibility of how you could set this up, so ultimately you'll have to decide which one works best for your particular environment. What kind of check load (hosts +services) are you looking at for each site? Here's ONE way that you could set this up, depending on the total number of checks you're running.

Here are some other options as well, for ideal performance I wouldn't do much more than 10000 checks on a single server, but there may be some other users who know some tricks for larger setups like this.

What are your needs as far as the centralized server? That will give us a better idea in making suggestions.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Our ideal goal is to localize the checks as stated and then have the feature of global Host Group. Example you want all your Domain controllers in one group regardless of which NagiosXI server runs the check. Does Fusion enable this? (we were looking at a deployment based on your diagram initially.)
Site A: ~500servers
Site B: ~100servers
Site C: ~200servers
Site D: ~100servers
If Fusion would give us that global host group setup deploying it at site A would make sense...

Fusion is more of a central dashboard that gives an overall summary of hosts and services (a tactical overview).
Checkout demos.nagios.com to get a quick idea, these versions need updating, but they should show you what you need.
If you want the ability for central hostgroups and services groups, you'll have to go by the central diagram drawn above. This central server would be entirely passive, and used just for display. However this method will allow you to create whatever host or service groups you want, but think of the central server as a central viewer. There are a few other way it can be done as well (you can also distribute the checks themselves with a tool like DNX, but I'm personally less familiar with that setup). I'll ask one of the other techs as well and see if he has any other ideas.
