Unless you have a very good reason for doing so - it's best practice to use
the IP address instead of the DNS hostname anyway.
What happens if your name resolution fails? - you end up with all your
services in an Unknown/Critical state, a _very_ busy pager and an angry tech
if this happens in the middle of the night when they are on call
)You might also try asking your question on the nagios-users list.
