For some reason I don't get this as the value for $PERFDATA$, instead I
get for example "PING OK - Packet loss = 0%, RTA = 65.14 ms". Perhaps I'm
using too old a version of Nagios (1.0) or plugins (1.3.1)?

Sorry, I can't parse _that_ :-) Am I missing some database terminology
that I ought to know?

OK, fixed it now, thanks :-) My Nagios was compiled for default perfdata
logging, and I didn't know how to check it, and it was taking a long time
to log anything at all.

Cheers, Chris.
