Monitoring 15000 Interfaces / 300 Routers

Post by hrnaqvi »

Dear Team,

I am monitoring 15000 interfaces of 300 routers, the issue I am facing is low performance and polling interval.

Version of my Nagios XI is, (Nagios XI 2011R1)

Nagios performance is quite slow in monitoring 15000 interfaces of 300 routers, I am monitoring bandwidth utilization and port status.

When one polling starts, Nagios does not complete to collect the data in 5 minutes, meanwhile the second polling interval starts.

That means one polling data is not received with in FIVE minutes and second polling starts.

I hope you get my query.

Regards,

Hello Hasnain,
what type of setup do you have Nagios XI installed on (VM, stand-alone server, etc) and with how much resources dedicated (memory, drive, etc)?

Thank you.

Okay. Could you try optimizing your Nagios XI server by following the instructions with this document:

http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... rmance.pdf

Several people have found that this greatly improves performance on bigger setups, so this should help.

Could you respond with results when possible?

Thanks!
