Hello diegossb,
this would be an Apache issue and you would need to mod_rewrite using port 80 as well as 443 listening.

Most people would want to use https out of the box. To me this is pretty poor that it doesn't come as the standard config.

You bet, we're still ironing out a few wrinkles with it, but we're working on documenting the setup of SSL on an XI server, then we're get the rest of the bugs pinned down.
