Hello,

I've just installed Nagios Core onto my Ubuntu 10.10 server using the Nagios Quickstart Installation Guide (http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/quickstart.html) and have now configured all of my Windows and Linux servers for monitoring. The next phase is to get Nagios to send me emails when alerts are raised however I can't seem to get it working.

On my Ubuntu 10.10 server, I have configured Postfix to run as a 'satellite' server pointing to my Exchange server but no mail is coming through. Are there any logs which I can check on my Ubuntu 10.10 server? Does anyone else have Nagios configured to send email alerts using Postfix to Exchange?

Postfix logs to /var/log/mail.log, and the log level can be configured in /etc/postfix/main.cf. That said, I would actually look at the logs on the Exchange server first, as it is highly likely that it could be configured to reject mail from your Nagios server depending on how your network is set up.
