Notifications not working after upgrade

I recently upgraded to Xubuntu from 8. to 10.04 LTS, I also updated Nagios Core from 3.0.5 to 3.2.3 everything works fine except for notifications.
Email relaying seems to be working correctly as I can mail from the cli without an issues. However, if I trigger an alert I am never seeing the notification come across. I am using ssmtp and relaying through an internal exchange server.
Anyone have any advice for getting this figured out?
