Looking for some guidance on time frames

Hi All,

This is my first post and Im still reading the docs, but I am having a heck of a time trying to find out something. I have inherited a 200 server network monitored with Nagios. All of the production servers and the associated services need to be monitored 24x7 as well as notification 24x7. I have Dev and QA servers that dont need notification 24 hours a day just during normal work hours, so my question is what is the best way to set that up? Oh I am also using Nconf if that helps.

Thanks,
Jack

Glad to see you started off right by reading the docs!

Here's a good place to jump to if you haven't gotten there already:

http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/ ... timeperiod

OK,

I did read that. I guess my question is, if I set the time period on the host does services defined for that host inherit that time frame if the services timeframe is empty?

Services do not inherit time periods from their hosts. You'll have to write them in yourself. If you use templates though it shouldn't be too hard.
