Hi All,
I have recently acquired a Netgear ReadyData 5200 and a Netgear ReadyData 516. Has anyone any suggestions for the best way to monitor these via Nagios?
Cheers,
Chris.

The quick response is "snmp". The more extended reply deals with "how?".
1. You could snmpwalk the devices, cherry pick the oids you wish to monitor, and then configure them through the wizard.
2. You could use a mib and configure traps for the devices.
3. Third party plugins from the exchange:
http://exchange.nagios.org/index.php?op ... rd=netgear
4. If they run linux/windows, you could always use agent to run scripts locally on the devices.
5. There are others, but that should get you started.

Thanks abrist.
I was fearing "snmp". SNMP is something I've looked at a few times but I tend to end up comatose every time I try to understand it.
Cheers,
Chris.

Using plugins can greatly aleviate the need for scouring OIDS and MIBs as they will commonly take care of the work for you, you would however need to enable snmp on the host's end, open the correct ports "usually 161 UDP" and set up a community string to share between XI and the device.
