2011 upgrade: lost performance graphs; system seems slow

I just upgraded to XI 2011R1.2 from the last 2009 version. Server is 64-bit Centos 5.5 on a SunFire X4150 with 8GB memory.

We're monitoring 4000+ Services on 950 Hosts, with *everything* defined in the static directory. Collecting performance data on only a hand-full of services, though.

After the upgrade, everything was dead slow. A reboot fixed most of that.

But my performance graphs have disappeared. I'll go look for the past posts and review the list of things to check, but maybe this is a common problem.

Performance is still not wonderful, and gets groans from management, though I'm not sure if it's any worse than the 2009 version. Our Server seems to run at ~90% idle and plenty of memory available, which seems odd. I'll try to time some typical display tasks to give you a concrete idea of performance.

Viewing a Host, then clicking the "Show Services" icon (a folder symbol? not too intuitive, but maybe I'm missing something) takes ~2minutes to display, then says "no matching services found". Viewing the "Services Detail" page shows the services correctly.

Sorry for the rambling description of the post-2011upgrade problems, but I don't have a good feel for them yet.

Thanks....Lyle

I went through all the steps listed in the Nagios XI FAQ under "Performance Graph Problems", but still no graphs. (I assumed that I needed to do a "service nagios restart" after modifying the nagios.cfg file. If so, that might be added to the FAQ)

The only other thing I can think of is the mod the Team recently mailed me to correct a PNP problem when collecting performance data from NSClient++. But back then, I had some graphs, just not all of them. Now I have no graphs.

My RRD database files do seem to be updated, judging from their timestamps.

I followed the pre-upgrade instructions, so should have good tar.gz files for rolling-back should it be necessary. This XI isn't "production" yet, as we're still using Core for that, so I'm not too pressured.

Thanks for any advice...Lyle

We may have to schedule a remote session to look around a bit and see if there is any bottleneck that is being overlooked. Would any days this week be good for you?

Would tomorrow be good? I can PM or email you times if that is acceptable.
