Help with Initial Installation

Hello,

I am a new user. I just discovered Nagios yesterday. I'm looking to use the free session to test the capabilities of Nagios to monitor hardrive failures across my network. Eventually, I would like to be monitoring about 50 servers and 1500 IP based cameras.

I've just installed a fresh version of Windows Server 2003. I've performed all updates and installed IIS 6.0. I've installed virtual server 2005 r2 and started the nagios virtual machine. I am at the initial login screen via the virtual machine and the browser UI.

The virtual machine is asking for the "localhost login". I've tried many of the combinations provided on the NagiosXI Virtual Machine Notes but have not been able to login successfully.

The web interface brings me to the Nagios XI Installer page. I leave everything at default and click install and I get the following message: "NSP: Sorry Dave, I can't let you do that"

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave Fleming

I've found the video tutorial that walks me through the initial setup. I'll follow those steps and then ask any questions I have later.

Thanks,
Dave

I've completed the completed the virtual server password reset steps as show in the tutorial video. I am now on the Nagios XI Web Interface Setup Guide. When I enter the information as instructed in the video I get the following message still: "NSP: Sorry Dave, I can't let you do that"

What is causing this and how can I fix it?

Thanks,
Dave

That message is the result of some security precautions against cross-site scripting attacks. Most likely the time in your virtual machine is off. Take a look at http://support.nagios.com/wiki/index.ph ... .22_Errors for some possible solutions.
