Centos 6.5 version XI 2012R2.7, 64bit, VMware Image

Hi,

I am relatively new to the whole Nagios and Linux thing but hoping someone might be able to help me with this.

Is it possible to get an instant alert as soon as a host shows as being down? I have searched the forum and Google but not been able to find a solution to this.

At the moment the host has to be down for 5 minutes (does a check every minute and waits for 5 checks) before the alert comes through and ideally I would like to know as soon as one of the hosts shows as being down.

All hosts are Windows Servers and if you need any configs or other details then let me know.

Thanks.

As far as I know there's no way to know *instantly* the second something goes down. This is because Nagios continually checks hosts on a schedule, in most cases every 5 minutes. You can change that interval to 1 minute with only a single check, but I would suggest doing that only for the most important hosts as doing this for all hosts will increase the load on the Nagios server way too much.
