Persistent Acknowledgment

Hello,

About acknowledgments:

It's already possible to make the comment persistent, but it would be a really cool and useful feature to be able to make an acknowledgment really persistent even if the service recovers. We have multiple services that keep jumping between normal and critical state. For example the temperature of a Brocade switch sfp, that will go critical during the day and uring backup but then recovers to normal. We have knowledge of this problem and do not want to acknowledge it every day again... Eventually we will solve the problem, but as it's not so easy to schedule maintenance on some core san switches, it could take up to 6 months before we can plan this.

I made this today: http://tracker.nagios.com/view.php?id=487

Anyone agrees with me on this?

Willem

Okay, so possibly something like, when you click the acknowledge button, it will ask you, acknowledge for (x amount of time) (persist through state changes) (reset on x state change)?

Hello,

Yes, something like that would do, but with an option to acknowledge it indefinitely. The option to reset on x state changes could be useful too in some cases, but top priority for me would be some way to acknowledge a problematic service for an undefined time (or untill acknowledgment is manually removed) so it doesn't pollute our open service problems view over and over again.

Thanks.

Thread can be closed... Setting downtime solves this issue.. Didn't realize downtime also removed problem services from open service problems..

I was suggested to use downtime or this, what will work. This thread can be closed.
