Restarting Nagios

What is the best practice for restarting Nagios? Should it be restarted every so often?

In my opinion...rarely. If you aren't having an issue, I see no reason to restart. Also, keep in mind, any time you are in the config manager and hit "Apply Changes" that is actually restarting the services. So if you are making config changes regularly, you actually are restarting it.
