"Locate Host on Map" action

I see when I enable unified hostgroup scrrens, there are action icons I don't see otherwise. The one action I'm interested in is to locate the host on network map, which brings up the map with the layout method and hostgroups include/exclude criteria I am used to in Nagios core. Anyone know how to get to these when unified screens are not enabled? The Network Status Map reachable from the Home page of XI is very basic. Thanks.

Not sure if it's whout you are looking for, but when you are on the Host Status Detail page, if you click on the "Advanced" tab, you can got the option "See this host in Nagios Core". Then you will get all the options for Nagios Core, including " Locate host on map".

Hope it helps.

Aurelien.

Yes, that gets me there - thanks - but with a few too many steps. It would be nice to have an icon for this or a quick action link on the host status detail page.

I don't think we have that feature at the moment, but you could add a feature request at tracker.nagios.com.

I'll do that. Why is it that the XI Status Map is so basic, versus what's in Core?

The status map feature is something that we'd like to replace with tools that are more versatile and and little more visually appealing. The hypermap component is one tool like this. The full features of the status map are still available for the Core interface, but to be honest, you're the first person to ask that question, we haven't had a lot of requests for the status map to do more than what it does in XI ; )
