hey guys

I know we have the repairmysql script, But I have a huge db 8600 checks, and I wanted to know what do you do to keep your db's running as lean and mean as possible?
I understand that we all have different setups, but I am not concerned with that. Any input will be appreciated.
Or for a better understanding of what I am talking about, when I look at the performance thingie in phpmyadmin, it gives the suggestions listed below. Whould this mess up my XI? and if you do things not listed here, I would appreciate it.

Ewww! PHPmyadmin on a XI box? Blasphemy!

But really, offloading the db, ramdisk, and maybe try to reduce what goes into the db in the first place (logging, mostly). If you don't need to log all state changes, make sure you aren't doing so, same for notifications if you don't care. After a certain point though it becomes more and more reasonable to just get a second XI box and split the checks </shameless plug>.

Wait for input from non-T people, or close this one up?
