fullinstall installation

I am in the process of evaluating XI. I've got a fresh built RHEL 6 system to work with, however, my organization doesn't support vanilla builds. The machine has a number of configuration changes enabling our IT dept to manage a large infrastructure.

Has anyone tried to work-around the fullinstall installation's requirement to 'yum install' packages from the rhn-channel? I have the optional repo configured in yum, but it points to an in-house repo.

Hi pattyo

If you are in the evaluation process, an option could be that you could have a fresh installation of CentOS Linux and install Nagios XI on it, or Download our VM from www.nagios.com.

As lcontreras mentioned, is it a possibility for you to build the XI system with external repo's enabled, and then move it in? Or use one of the pre-configured vm's?

We have am automated system that controls configurations, including repos (see my original post regarding company policy and configuration management). I can try to work around our system but it would be preferable to have a more flexible nagios install process.

If you can give us a list of the changes we can probably go over them and see if any will cause a conflict. We don't need exact versions and config files for the changes, but if you have puppet or something it would be good to know.

We have a home grown configuration management system. I'll see if I can get around the local repo issue and will let you know if I encounter anything else.

We will keep this thread open until you return.
