plugins to monitor wifi Access points and Controllers

Post by kimjaggi »

Hi,

I want to monitor wifi accesspoints and controllers from nagios. I found some plugins for Cisco but nothing for DELL (PC- W-650)
if anybody is aware of how to do this then please let me know.

Thanks

In the future please post in the proper section, as this is for development of plugins and not general plugin questions. I will keep this thread here for now.

What specifically are you looking to monitor?
Is SNMP an option? If so, have you run a snmpwalk against the device? Do you have MIBs for it?

I am pretty new to this form and Nagios, I will take care of this in future.

I am not very sure what should be monitored. I am very new to nagios, I have just been told to set up monitoring for wifi access points and controllers.
I surely can do snmpwalk and get the MIBs but it will be much better if there is already a plugin for this.

Well without knowing at least what you want to monitor there's only so much we can do. If you can get a SNMP OID from the snmpwalk that would be a start, then we can monitor that with Nagios. Did your boss really give you no requirements? Bandwidth, interface status, temperature?

I can find OIDs from the manual.I tried but I think snmp is not an option for this.

Are you talking about this?

That plugin uses SNMP.

Is there a reason you believe SNMP will not work? If you can snmpwalk it you should be able to get information that is useful.
