Unable to get host notification to work

I am unable to get host notification to work. Where is this defined? I have my config object to alert me when a host has gone down but it is not working. Is this defined at a contact level or host level or both?

Please post questions in the appropriate section. I have moved this topic to Nagios Core from Plugin Development.
As for your host notifications, can you please post your host config and the associated contact?
