SMS Alert using SIM card and sim dongle

Hi,
Is there any way we can use sms alerts in open source NAgios version using a sim dongle? Has anyone done it before?

Well, if the SIM card provides access to data/internet, then you could try to send an email to an sms gateway over that interface.

'SMS Gateway' as in your carriers email to sms server. You essentially just need to send an email to your carrier's gateway, the 'to' address will dictate which phone the converted sms message gets sent to.
