Check_mk Dashboard modification

Hey guys,
Not sure im in the right place, but i wasn;t sure where else i can ask this question, so if you know, your assistance will be highly appreciated.
We are trying to add entries to the Dashboard view in the Check_mk page.
The steps we’ve taken:
• Adding fields to the common.py file ( located under: /usr/share/check_mk/web/plugins/dashboard/common.py) with the new view we want to add, copying the existed ones and modifying it with the new names.
• Restart the httpd service – didn’t refresh the view with the new settings.
• Restart check_mk - same result.
When restarting the httpd, the service starts normally and the page load fine (without the new lines).
However, when modifying the common.py file wrong on purpose, after the httpd restart, the page doesn’t load and specifies were the issue is in the common.py file, so we know we're in the right place, but what are we doing wrong??
We are using check_mk version 1.24p2.
We are not sure where to go from here,
Can you please assist us?
Thanks!
