Unfortunately i can't change "AllowOverride" in httpd.conf that is set to "All", i tried to insert "AllowOverride None" in .htaccess file but don't work.....what can I do?
Why can this not be changed in httpd.conf ? Could you switch this host to use Virtualhosts?

This is really moving away from a Nagios issue, and more to an apache configuration issue....

I'm sorry but I made a mistake ... it's not a problem of the directive "AllowOverride", I changed to a test server and authentication works ....i do not know what to do

I'm pretty sure your problem lies in your base Apache configuration not letting your .htaccess work as expected. Is there a reason why you can't move all the authentication information to /etc/httpd/conf.d/nagios.conf?

I have moved all to /etc/httpd/conf.d/nagios.conf but same problem, i have also tried to make a virtual host (Apache is configured whit virtual host), in this case i have 404 error

/etc/httpd/conf.d/nagios.conf (whitout .htaccess) --> no authentication required

Code: Select all

ScriptAlias /nagios/cgi-bin "/usr/local/nagios/sbin"

<Directory "/usr/local/nagios/sbin">

This seems to be OK. Have you restarted apache after modifying the file?

Run the following commands and show us the output:

Code: Select all

grep nagiosadmin /usr/local/nagios/etc/htpasswd.users
grep nagiosadmin /usr/local/nagios/etc/cgi.cfg
grep nag /etc/group

Modify the "/etc/group", by changing this line:

Code: Select all

nagios:x:500:
to this:

Code: Select all

nagios:x:500:nagios,apache
save, exit and restart apache:

Code: Select all

service httpd restart
Let me know if this fixed your issue.

This certainly isn't correct, you should not have a / in ServerName and if I remember correctly the tag-names are case sensitive and your VirtualHost begins with <VirtualHost *:80> and ends with </virtualhost>

I'm not an apache config expert, but something like this would be closer..

Code: Select all
