Nagios XI keeps crashing post upgrade to XI 2014

Hi,

I have upgraded to Nagios XI 2014 and this has upgraded the core to 4.0.5. Since the upgrade Nagios XI runs for about an hour and then stops, core however keeps working and does not stop. I have corrected issues with 4.0.5 and even upgraded to 4.0.6 to fix a core issue.

The only way to get this to work is to run

service ndo2db restart

This then pushes the core data back into XI however all of the alerting is done via XI and not Core so I am not getting alerts etc and this is causing me major issues.

Here is the information about my system

Thanks

Chris

This is getting worse now.

Nagios XI is lasting about 15 mins before it now stops updating the information in the event log. Nagios Core still running absolutely fine, the logs are not reporting anything out of the ordinary. I am thinking this is mqsql related but I have run the repair_database.sh nagios and this has not resolved the issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Chris

Can you give us tails of the following (in code wraps):

Code: Select all

tail -25 /var/log/httpd/error_log
tail -25 /var/log/messages
tail -25 /usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log
tail -25 /var/log/mysqld.log

no errors in the logs now

if I go to https://localhost/nagios and look at the event log I see all the of checks going through

if I go to https://localhost/nagiosxi and look at the event log I do not see any checks at all.

Also under Monitoring Process, the process state is stopped and clicking the start button next to it does nothing.

If I now run

service ndo2db restart

The process state now shows running and that it has been running for 17m 45s

Does NagiosXI use prostgres and not mysql database? Are there any logs there we need to check and look at?

This will stop working again very shortly

Thanks

Chris

A little more digging and the postgres logs are showing the following:

I have fixed the postgresql by setting standard_conforming_strings = on in the postgresql.conf

Rebooted the server and the error stops

The performance grapher didnt start but I clicked on start and that now starts.

The process state is back to red again though and wont start via the web browser so I will keep checking as still nothing in the https://localhost/nagiosxi event logs

Thanks

Chris
