Adding a report to "My Reports" doesn't force sidebar update

You have to click reports at the top of the screen to get a refresh manually. I see this on both my Safari on Mac and Firefox on Redhat.

Agreed.
This isn't new behavior, but it should work how you suggest.
I've added an internal feature request to get this added (3042)
