upgrade problems

Hi,
I use nagiosxi 2012R2.9 on centos 32 bits and I would like to upgrade to 2014R1.0. When i have made the upgrade, I received an error

- This installs and configures permissions on the
directory for holding the external command file

make install-config
- This installs sample config files in /usr/local/nagios/etc

I have cheked the configuration and I have no warnings and no error

My questions are:
- could you help me to resolve the problem
- is it possible to take the backup of my nagiosxi server ans restore him to a new nagiosxi centos6.4 2014 r1
