We have environment of 5 servers which are installed with nagiosxi 2012 version 2.9.
We are planning to move to latest version 2014.

1) Is it good to install from scratch on new servers and export all these dbs from old to new servers.
2) Is it good to upgrade current environment without any issues.

Which of these options work for us.

I would recommend doing a direct upgrade to Nagios XI 2014R1.1.
Note: You can run the upgrade in a test environment first to make sure you are not going to run into some issues.

A few things that you need to check, prior to the upgrade:
- make sure you don't have any config issues and you can apply configuration successfully
- don't have any "ghost" hosts/services or dependencies to "ghosts".
- do your backups.

Team,
We have tried two thing to test this upgrade.

1)Direct install on new dev server 2014 R1.4

2)Upgrade on test server from 2012 R2.9 to 2014 R 1.4 as you suggested. We still need to do in production.

The difference we see in the format of both GUI is different.Upgraded test GUI is similar to old format but with no search functionality.

Can you please advice.Attached screenshot for reference.

On the one with the old theme, go to Admin -> Manage System Config and under "XI User Interface Theme" select "XI 2014" and Update Settings. Then go to the Home page.
