Question about network traffic related to checking ports

Good morning,

We have some concerns about the contribution polling the switch ports with snmp will have to network congestion. My thoughts were it was a small amount of data, but added up over many switches, the boss has some concerns.

Edit: Apparently I didn't finish my post earlier.

Using the wizard to find the ports for bandwidth monitoring on HP Procurves (the values it found are off BTW) we are currently monitoring all our ports for the purpose of having the graphs for troubleshooting. Our network is currently growing a pretty rapid pace, we're unsure if this causes a significant amount of network traffic. Can anyone tell me if that's a legitimate concern, or is the traffic from these checks insignificant?

Thanks a million.

Depends on how many, how often, and the routes the checks take. For the most part, snmpget commands every 5 minutes is very negligible.
